Constitution of the Justice Committees:
The Justice Committees (here-in-after the JCs) have been constituted in accordance with decisions of the National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) in the provinces and ICT in year 2015.
Mandate of the JCs:
The JCs have been mandated to ensure implementation of decisions of the NJPMC and improve service delivery of justice sector institutions. The JCs have also been mandated for developing effective coordination and cooperation among the judiciary, executive and law enforcement agencies within respective territories with aim to improve the quality of justice service delivery.
Chairperson, Secretary and Members of the JCs:
Hon’ble Chief Justice of a respective High Court, and, the Registrar of a High Court, have been designated as Chairperson and Secretary to a Justice Committee, respectively. Furthermore, it is a body with high mandate, comprising upon Secretaries of the Home, Law and Prosecution departments, Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan and the IGP/PPO, PG, AG, IG Prisons, DG Anti-corruption and the Senior Most District and Sessions Judge.
Procedure of Meetings and Submission of Progress:
Under the prescribed (as notified) procedure, the Justice Committees have been mandated to convene its meetings on quarterly basis within its territorial jurisdiction to improve service delivery of justice sector institution, better administration of justice including strong intra provincial coordination and cooperation between the judiciary, executives and law enforcement agencies. The Secretary to a Justice Committee is needed to submit quarterly progress report in respect of relevant Justice Committee to this Secretariat.
